A time of change!
A time of change!
Ah, change! A time when, very often, there are tears of sadness and tears of happiness. When change happens, it usually means that we are letting go of something and we are also introducing something new into our lives. Woo-hoos and boo-hoos all at the same time!
Well, change is happening at Spadrole. We have a new website. Woo hoo! The new website has a newsletter, a video, a blog and so many more possibilities. To my surprise, as we were getting closer to the launch of the new website, I realized that there was a bit of sadness, that I would miss the old site. Boo hoo! No more little balls that laugh! Letting go of my old website was a bit sad. Don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t a full torrential tsunami of tears; it was just a tiny tear in the corner of my eye, and yes, I got over it. Out with the old, in with the new. Woo hoo!
However this was a planned change. Change is not always planned and many times it is unexpected. That’s when it becomes a bit more difficult to balance all the emotions and not let it get to me. For example: the flat tire, a cancelled meeting, the new deadline, the injury, a broken relationship or the loss of a loved one. Whatever it is, I like to think that I will get over it and bounce back. I have realized that the amount of time I need to bounce back depends on how difficult the change is.
Some changes are easier—unexpected company for instance. When a surprise visitor shows up at my door, do I hide, turn out the lights and pretend no one’s at home? Or, do I let them in, pull out the chips and dip and do my best to adapt to the situation? In such cases, it shouldn’t take me forever to adapt. However in other circumstances time is of the essence. These uninvited and nasty changes carry with them different emotions that stir the body, the mind, and the soul and will require more time. I have to give myself a lot of time—enough time to process the emotions, to be good to myself and for the tears of happiness to come back. Woo hoo!
My question to you is this: When there are no more chips and dip, what does one do?

#1 no more chips
When the chips and dip are gone, I open every other cupboard to look for something to fill the craving. Sometimes I find it and sometimes I don’t but either way, I survive and move on.
Thanks for your inspiration, I look forward to MORE!

#2 Unexpected - they're at the door!
It’s not about the chips & dip - it’s about you. They are here for the person, the welcome, the conversation … and of course the laughter. The validation, being welcomed - unconditionally and accepted in the moment.
Bravo - on the new website - the promotional CD, the newsletter - can’t wait to see it all…and then some.
YOU are DISASTER PROOF!!!
Tee hee,
